STANDING IN total darkness, i could only see the opposite well-lit stalls. i felt somehow chilly as the rain drops fell from above. those bright red adidas shoes dawned on me. i was not alone. as she walked ahead of me, i could feel a sense of familiarity. shoes. figure. footsteps. hair. i paused. feeling completely overwhelmed, i called out.

a faint figure turned back towards me.
